AVALAUNCH, Featuring Level 1′s “Eye Trip” and Blackalicious
Thursday at 8:00pm – November 14 at 1:00am
The skies are pondering and the clouds commiserate, the mercury drops and we all look up. Yes my friends, winter is coming. The mountains are a beautiful and powerful force in these here parts, and if your britches get to tingling like a union suit full of icyhot when the fluffy white deluge begins, then the force is with you. Facing up to another season of deep snow and stupendous adventure requires preparation (quitting your job, pawning your TV, stocking up on Captain Morgan and Neptunes) Preparations like these will ensure your season is idyllic, filled with mallow and fudge, but some preparations should not be taken so lightly.SCS Event Branding for AVALAUNCH

This season, take the time to learn yourself on the latest and greatest in avalanche safety, take the time to check out Avalaunch. Avalaunch is a movement of people spreading avalanche awareness, providing avalanche knowledge and praying for the mightiest of dumps through libation and fire! The festival itself kicks off on Wednesday the 11th of November when the Avalaunch Lounge opens in the back of Wild Joes Coffee downtown. The Lounge will be a space of supreme mountainliness, sporting ski and bike tuning equipment in a serenely unique atmosphere.
The following day sports the FREE Avalaunch classroom sessions from 5:00-6:00 followed by the Avalaunch panel discussion on avalanche safety from 6:15-7:15. Participants can also sign up for an avalanche practical for later in the season through the Avalanche Center. That evening the tempo gets spanked up a notch for the “Eye Trip” premier of the snow-porn Level 1 at the Procrastinator Theater. There will be an afterparty that evening at the Zebra featuring drink specials and musical guests (?). Tickets for the show are $7 advance and $10 day of.
The 13th of November thus begineth, and begineth it shall. The Avalaunch Basecamp will be at Bob Wards all day showcasing the latest and greatest snow safety technology imported from the future to the present. After a day of knowledge one might want to relax a bit, and relax we shall. Pray for Snow festivities will rock on in the glorious glow of mighty, mighty hip-hop legends Blackalicious. Since such raptastic audio brainstomping requires a venue suitable to such beautiful performers and listeners, where better than right downtown at the intersection of Black and Main? Even after the ‘Liciousness leaves the stage, the Zebra will still be bumping with drink specials, deals for Pray for Snow attendees and yet more incredible music.
Tickets for the Pray for Snow party will be $15 advance and $20 day of, on sale at Cactus Records, Helly Hansen and of course online at Chamberlinproductions.com.
